1 Support the disappearing middle class:
I feel passionately that skilled craftspeople and designers living in the western world should be able to earn a middle class income while practicing their trade. Our society was built upon this premise. Vurv does not have millionaire executives or a corporate jet. Nor do we admire wealth. We simply want to make a modest living doing what we love.

2 Support democracy and human rights:
It sounds lofty, but in fact, every time we make a purchase, we are making a political choice. What do you know about who actually produces your material possessions and under what sort of conditions were they produced? Is a single minded quest for lower and lower prices justifiable in the face of profound social inequality between the maker and consumer.

3 We care about the environment:
At the most basic level, we conform to Canadian environmental standards. Plus, we use formaldehyde free adhesives, non-lacquer finishes, and we meticulously separate our wood waste from our recyclable waste, and our trash. We also reuse as much material as we can - right down to our packing material - shredded office paper (which is not only reused, but can go right back into the bluebag). Next to creating desirable products, the environment is our primary concern.

4 There is value in what is made by hand.
Everything from Vurv is hand made from gorgeous materials and lovingly finished by hand. We take pride in knowing our products will end up as a feature in your home. We think of you when we craft our products, and hopefully you will think of us when you enjoy them.
